Is the concrete orange? Or is the orange made of concrete? And how do these different images make you feel?
In this weird and wonderful poetry session, students will learn how to make poems from unusual word associations. Starting with the concrete – things we can touch, see and understand – students will leap into the abstract and explore how different objects evoke different emotional responses.
Wordplay poetry is the act of combining the concrete with the abstract. It’s a crazy crossover scramble that calls for imagination and the will to think outside the box.
By trading ideas, kids will learn the different weight of words and how to create poems in a fresh and interesting way.
